World Blood Donor Day 2012 - Silver Stadium, Lilongwe, Malawi

World Blood Donor Day 2011

Since 14 June 2004, World Blood Donor Day has been celebrated by countries around the world to commemorate blood donors and promote voluntary blood donation.  The theme of this year’s World Blood Donor Day is that “Every blood donor is a hero.

Would you like to find out a bit more about blood donation and why Malawi needs more voluntary blood donors?

Come celebrate the gift of giving blood on June 16th 2012 at the Silver Stadium in Lilongwe, Malawi. (Starting at 8:30AM with a procession from LBTC to Silver Stadium)

With music, poetry and drama performances it is set to be an exciting and informative day where you can hear why other people donate blood and meet other blood donors. The shortage of blood  in Malawi and around the world is something every single one of us has the ability to change, with just 30 minutes of our time. Next time you have 30 minutes to spare why not give blood!

This event is organised by the Malawi Blood Transfusion Service (MBTS) in partnership with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other local organisations. Find out more about World Blood donor day here, or download the full draft schedule for the day.
